Dear Kathy (a love letter),
We are all so happy when we get to hang out with you! You love nothing more than to cuddle on a lap and purr your little whiskers off. Unless it’s brushing. You love bonding with us while we brush you, leaning in happily as we shine up your pretty black tabby coat.
Even though you’re a little plumpalicious, we love that you love to play, whether it’s with your wand toys or the Cat Dancer or your little yellow ducky. Give you a box or a tunnel and you’re exploring in no time. You cheerfully play with whoever comes to visit, with whatever toy they bring.
We suspect you were bounced around a lot even before your first person adopted you from another shelter. She had to give you up before she moved and then you lost your last adopter and had to come back to us.
It was rough for you at first, plunged into all the commotion of a busy cat shelter. You were sad and scared, and tended to mark the door where there was constant traffic during the day. And you could still hear the other cats at night, something we later realized scared you more than we knew.
We had you tested and ruled out everything but anxiety and some painful teeth. We gave you a dental and you get a small daily dose of anti-anxiety medication. Our fab Onsite Behavior Team worked very closely with you and that’s made all the difference!
And we found you a better room! It’s quiet but still available to all staff and volunteers. You have a steady stream of people who love spending time with you: playing, napping, being read to and even getting your portrait drawn!
Just like anyone who has a favorite bathroom ritual, you have yours. Your previous guardian told us you prefer two litter boxes: one for pee and one for poop. They also need to be a little higher as you tend stand more than squat. Once we found your zen spot with your boxes, you haven’t had any accidents…going on 4 months now!
You spent supervised time outside in the past, so we’ve halter trained you so you can go outside again. We think you’ll love that, getting fresh air and sunshine with your new guardians.
We know that all you want is a nice lap and a loving human, a little sunshine and quiet with no other pets, some regular playtime and lots of love. We’re all pulling for you to find your purrfect human!
the staff and volunteers!
