Hi, I am Doug, also known as Cookie Monster, and I am ready to try believing in forever again.
I have had a pretty tough start to life. I was dumped not once but twice, and after that I decided the streets were safer than trusting people. Eventually my journey led me to my foster home, where soft pillows and regular meals slowly convinced me that maybe humans were worth another chance.
I am a shy guy at first and loud noises or sudden movements can still startle me. Once I feel safe though, my true personality comes out. I love affection and will happily demand that you sit down so I can climb into your lap for cuddles. I show my love with head butts, kisses, and quiet companionship.
With people, I would describe myself as more of a wallflower than a party animal. I bond deeply with my person and would do best in a calm home, ideally with a single human who enjoys a close connection. That said, I do like other cats and have shown friendly interest in my foster siblings, especially through gentle affection.
I am rediscovering play at my own pace and enjoy treats and a sturdy scratching post. I am also a bigger guy, so I do best with a large litter box or one with high sides to keep things comfortable and tidy.
What I really need is patience and kindness. If you are willing to move at my speed and show me what it truly means to be safe and loved, I promise I will give you my whole heart.
