Bookkeeping Assistant

Are you a cat lover who also loves numbers and making sure all business finances are balanced and bills are paid, especially to further good causes? 

Happy Cats Haven is a dynamic team of passionate staff and volunteers who make life better for the cats in our care…and the people who love them. We’re looking for an experienced bookkeeper.

Job description summary: The Bookkeeping Assistant assists the Treasurer by making and recording all the daily financial tasks of Happy Cats Haven.

Employment schedule: 15 flexible hours per week that adjust according to need and grant deadlines

Preferred education/training:  Experience and/or certification in bookkeeping or accounting. Experience with Quickbooks and basic office applications. Clear communication & writing skills. Ability to manage flexible hours working from home as needed. Commitment to Happy Cats Haven’s mission. College or equivalent experience preferred.

Job duties
The Assistant Bookkeeper will be responsible for the following, among other duties:

  • Paying/recording all bills & sales tax returns
  • Making/recording sales/donation receipts and deposits
  • Processing accounting aspects of inventory: chip (monthly) and retail (quarterly)
  • Filing all backup paperwork (printed and scanned)
  • Balancing all prepaid & accrued accounts
  • Gathering needed documents for insurance audits and/or tax re-turn preparers
  • Creating monthly spreadsheets (as needed or requested)

Salary: This position starts at $25.00/hour.
