Have you ever had that joyful experience of finally getting a shy cat to lean into petting with love? Mama Esme and her daughter Alara are looking for a Superhero just like you!
These sweet girls were returned to the Humane Society in March 2023 after their owners were no longer able to care for them. It was very scary for them to find themselves in an unfamiliar environment and they were very shy at first. However, with a lot of patience and love, they’re learning to trust again.
Extra floofy Miss Alara is a bit more outgoing than her mother. She loves watching the world go by from her high perch. She’s a sweet little lady who loves pets and to snuggle “sidecar” against her humans. Once she’s begun to trust you, she’ll even let you pick her up!
Mama Esme is the shyer of the two, following her daughter’s lead. Like Alara, she enjoys snuggling up to her humans. She’ll also jump up onto her high perch for pets once she’s gotten to know you!
Both girls also enjoy clicker training and squeezable treats (and in Alara’s case, crunchy Temptations). They’re also still young at heart and love chasing wand toys up and down their cat tree! Neither girl is quite comfortable with laps, but they still do enjoy snuggling in their own way.
They tend to say hi with a sweet mew every time that you should pass by or say their name!
Because both girls are a bit on the shy side, they would probably do best in a quiet household with no children or other pets.
Because of their early experiences with humans, these are special Superhero Kitties. They will need a family with extra patience, willing to let them blossom at their own pace.
They have lived at Happy Cats for many months and will need at least 2 months in their Safe Room, a quiet space to learn to trust and love their new family, as well as our Hands Off handling to help them build trust. Superhero Cats need to be the only pets in the home.
Superhero Kitties come with a kit that includes helps you support them while they become the lovable companions we know they can be. This includes a home installation, a top/side loading carrier per kitty, support materials & videos customized for your kitty, a mini-class in Hands Down Handling, their favorite toys & bedding, 3 months of food/litter/treats, up to 1 year of professional behavioral counseling if needed and other equipment as needed. Esme is about ten years old and Alara is about seven years old. They can be adopted together for $120 which along with their Superhero Kit includes their spays, vaccinations, microchips, food and litter and treats for 3 months, and a free well-kitty checkup each to help you get started.
