Over the moon with Moon Pie

by

Sweet teen mom Josie was rescued from trying to survive outside, pregnant and alone.

She had 7 kittens and two had folded ears that showed their Scottish Fold heritage, including little Moon Pie.

Moon Pie was adopted at an adoption fair with our friends at Pet Supplies Plus by a loving catdad named Bill and has since gone on to stardom with her very own Facebook page!

Bill is a tireless advocate for shelter cats and has a Facebook group just for them called Shelter Cats. He has also been spreading the word about Scottish Fold cats. They are born with a genetic mutation that not only causes their ears to fold but can cause cartilage and joint problems, among other things.

Moon Pie is obviously a mixed breed kitty, so we hope she doesn’t develop any issues, but Bill is keeping a close eye on her with the help of his veterinarian.

As you can see, she seems to be a healthy, playful kitty who just celebrated her first birthday! Bill says, “She is a beautiful young girl with a lot of personality.

I have since moved from Colorado Springs to a small rural town in North Carolina.

I, of course, brought her and her “Aunt” Baby Girl Katniss and “Uncle” Jaspurr. Moon Pie s a very independent cat but loves her aunt and uncle, especially my big ole boy Jaspurr.

BTW, I had Katniss staying at a friend’s house to do a slow reintroduction with Jaspurr because they were fighting. Katniss escaped and was living on the streets during winter for 5 months. Someone finally trapped her and got her to Happy Cats. Because she was chipped you called me and I was there right away to pick up my “Baby Girl”. In a way, I’ve gotten two cats from you!
Moon Pie is my “Little Girl” and so far is not in pain but I am prepared for medical treatments if needed.
I play with her doing low-impact play, I have low profile litter boxes and orthopedic steps as well as joint supplements and bone broth.
I can assure you I will take excellent care of her. She is my “spokescat” for adopt don’t shop and spay and neuter.”
