Nelly’s locks of love

Nelly was returned to us when her guardian, who had taken her in from a previous guardian, was unable to care for her long Maine Coon locks.

He had seen our social media post asking our community to be aware of the damage that mats can do after we rescued another kitty whose mats were almost as thick as she was. Nelly wasn’t quite as bad but did need some help.

Our team set about gently removing the mats. Nelly seemed to understand we were trying to help her feel better.

She was a lot lighter when we got finished! But soon Eric and his family came along to visit. Who wouldn’t fall in love with this spirited little sprite?!

Eric says, “Nelly has adjusted well to our family. Being the only cat and having free roam of the house has made her a happy cat. Her hair is slowly coming back and she is quite the lover who loves being a lap cat.”

She has also done well with grooming and likes having her hair brushed. Thank you again for checking up on her and she appears to have found her forever home.”
