Do you need a watch party buddy who won’t complain about your boring nature shows? Meet Carson – screen enthusiast and all around sweetheart. This tuxedo kitten loves all types and ages of people, but needs time and gentle consistency to come around. He had a tough start in an outdoor colony near Ft. Carson, and was originally intended for the TNR program. However Carson’s loving personality proved he was destined to become part of a family.

He still has some anxious behaviors (more on that ahead) from being introduced to people later in kitten hood, but his foster uncles and adopted little sister Dolly have been showing him the ropes of living with humans. And Carson has decided – life with humans is good. When it comes to new people and new experiences he often takes his cue from Dolly. Once his confidence is rewarded Carson is all about the love for all his family.

Carson enjoys human attention. He wants to play, to groom others and even snuggle on your lap from time to time. If you must carry him please carry Carson up high and close to your shoulder as this helps him feel more secure. Carson does become easily overstimulated and is still learning that biting is not the way to communicate what he wants. He may start by kitty kissing your nose or your fingers, but be aware that could turn to nomming. He will also hiss sometimes when he gets overexcited. Neither of these behaviors are born out of aggression but simply because he is still learning the rules of being a “domesticated” cat.

If he begins hissing during play simply ignore it. If he begins biting remove yourself from all touch as calming as safely possible and give a gentle verbal no. Offering him a chew safe toy also helps. Due to this we strongly recommend that Carson go to a calmer home with either cat experience or a willingness to learn cat body language. If there are other cats in the home, besides his BFF Dolly, we recommend they be a “non-reactive” or super mellow cat that will not misconstrue any potential hissing or biting.
