We are officially moved into our new building at 327 Manitou Avenue in Manitou Springs!
Only 5 minutes from downtown Colorado Springs, we’re off the first Manitou Springs exit from Highway 24 (which is exit 141 from I-25). Go one block past the first light and look for our free parking on the south side!
Many, many people came together to make this dream a reality. We thank all of you from the bottom of our (and our kitties’) hearts for helping in whatever way you could to help complete Phase 2. Extra purrs to everyone who helped us move, especially those hardy volunteers who helped deconstruct the old location!
Our catification is nothing short of amazing, thanks to the expertise of Shannan Longley of Catagonia Cat Hotel and Happy Cats friend and commercial carpenter Alan Obye.
Alan donated over 120 days worth of work on our nesting boxes, hex beds, benches, tables and desks, along with almost all the regular trim in the whole building. Huge purrs to you, Alan!

We are still working hard to keep our carbon footprint small. Along with reusing over 75% of the original roof plywood and rafters plus recycling all usable metal, we repurposed original windows and doors for the interior.
Our tankless water heaters provide hot water on demand instead of heating water unnecessarily. Old concrete sidewalks are being broken up to be used in our garden retaining walls.
Friend Jason of Omoletski Enterprises installed window film that should help us manage airflow to prevent overheating…while still providing a nice sunny space for our seniors.
Warm pine salvaged from beetle-kill trees and job site excess plus salvaged rebar make up much of the catwalks, adding to our Southwest industrial vibe.
Alan even helped us catify a free bookcase with Mario holes so we have our Little Free Library as well as cozy nesting spots and vertical traffic access for the kitties!
Watch Rue explore the catification and bookcase on her very first night at the Planet!
Phase 3 will allow us to expand into the second story with even more cat-friendly catification in 6 more sunny colony rooms…each with its own secure outside catio. This will eventually double the number of homeless cats and kittens we can save.
We have 2 colonies and 2 catios left for naming opportunities. Your sponsorship will go directly toward our goal of $60,000 to finish the upstairs.
Our Purrflection Garden will offer quiet space for our community as well as our staff and volunteers. We have two large walls available for sponsorship in the Garden, as well 6 garden trees and space for dozens of memorial plaques and cat sculptures.
On September 7th and 8th, we will mark National Pet Memorial Day with a Garden Planting & Dedication. Planting will be on Saturday morning from 9-12 and the dedication will be on Sunday afternoon at 3.
This will include coming together with plants from our Foster a Plant Drive to build our garden with love and community.
With thousands of cats and kittens in their forever homes thanks to the good work we do, we know you have faith in us. Big purrs to you for believing in this dream that will change so many lives–feline and human alike!
Can you help us expand into Phase 3 of the upper story so we can rescue even more needy cats and kittens? Every donation helps, so please click below to give on our secure website at Colorado Gives or contact us at 719-362-4600 for more info. We’re always glad to give tours so you know exactly where you’re donation is going!
