Foster Handbook: introducing the animals

Please be aware whether your own animals become stressed with meeting new animals. Check their behaviors for hissing, hiding, litterbox issues and not eating. If they show these signs of stress, please keep the fosters in their room for the duration and do not mix them.

On the other hand, we do learn a lot about how our foster kitties react to other animals in the home if they are introduced. It is usually very helpful to expose kittens to other cats and dogs if they are friendly and the home animals enjoy it.

If you think your home animals won’t be reactive, please feel free to gently introduce them after 21 days. You can find our tips on how to introduce animals in our Safe & Slow article on the website here.
