Skittles’ Story

by

Skittles arrived at Happy Cats Haven in 2022 after being found as a stray. She was a sweet, shy girl who lacked confidence around people, so we knew she needed time to settle in before she’d be ready for her forever home. That’s when she met Bandit.

Bandit started out as a community cat before being brought indoors. We welcomed him to Happy Cats Haven as a senior after his person had to move. He wasn’t thrilled about people—or change—but after a slow, patient introduction, Skittles worked her magic. Little by little, he opened up. Before long, they were sharing naps, grooming sessions, and their very own cozy space in the Haven. With Skittles by his side, Bandit even began to trust humans again.

Sadly, Bandit’s health began to decline. A spot on his nose turned out to be cancer, and his heart condition meant treatment wasn’t an option. He spent his final days surrounded by love, with his favorite people—and, of course, Skittles—by his side.

That left Skittles without her boon companion.

We weren’t sure how she’d cope, but soon fate (and a wonderful foster couple) brought Dexter into her life. Shy and sweet, he needed a friend just as much as she did. After a gentle introduction, Skittles clearly found new love with Dexter—and the feeling is mutual! Now they’re writing their own story, one snuggle at a time.

Dexter and Skittles were adopted a year ago, and according to their new pet parents, “We are doing well, and we love these kitties. My whole camera roll is filled with pictures of them being cute.”
